Franziska Koefer is a PhD candidate at the ETM department since 2020. She obtained a MSc in Political Economy and Emerging Markets at King's College London and a Double Degree B.A. in International Business Studies at Harz University of Applied Science, Germany and Otago Polytechnic Dunedin, New Zealand. Her dissertation for the MSc degree focused on the relationship between financial remittances and economic/social development as well as remittance receiving household spending behaviour, including the likelihood of entrepreneurial activity.
Since 2016 she also gained professional experience and interest in new technologies in the financial markets, such as AI- tools used in the FinTech industry. Her PhD is funded by the 2019 EIB University Research Sponsorship programme and collaborates with the Dutch microfinance company Qredits. Her research focuses on inclusive finance in Europe and innovative technologies.
