Diana Chavarro-Rincón was born in Bogotá, Colombia where she obtained a B.Sc. degree in civil engineering and specialized in water resources management. While in Colombia, she worked as a consultant in projects related to water resources and agricultural development. In 2000 she moved to the Netherlands where she earned an M.Sc. degree in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation from the Faculty ITC of the University of Twente, and a Ph.D. in eco-hydrology from the same university. After joining temporally the Princeton University as a postdoctoral researcher, she worked for 5 years as independent consultant in the applications of remote sensing for water and vegetation under the name Ambient Sensing. In 2018, she returned to ITC-University of Twente first at the department of Geo-information Processing, and later at the department of Water Resources where she currently works as senior project officer.
