dr. G.G.M. Stoffels (Genie)

I started my career at the Radboud University of Nijmegen where I studied Physics and got a master degree in Molecular and Laser Physics in 1994. I continued in Nijmegen with a Ph.D. project in physics in which I applied optical and laser diagnostic techniques to combustion process and got my Dr degree in 1999. After a Post doc position at the Delft University of Technology in the Thermal and Fluid Sciences group, where I applied laser techniques to the combustion of solid fuels, I moved to Enschede in July 2000. From then on I am working at the University of Twente in the group Thermal Engineering of the faculty Engineering Technology (ET). Besides research on combustion processes I am involved in teaching mechanical engineering students in the area of thermodynamics. During the first 12 years at the University of Twente my mean working area changed in the direction of education. In September 2012 I became programme coordinator of the bachelor programme of Mechanical Engineering for 0.5 fte. I combine this with the anher 0.5 fte that is filled with teaching and a bit of research in the area of Thermal and Fluids Engineering.

De laatste jaren zijn mijn onderzoeksactviteiten beperkt. Het grootste deel van mijn tijd is gewijd aan mijn coördinatietaken bij het Bachelor programma Werktuigbouwkunde en onderwijs bij de opleiding Werktuigbouwkunde op het gebied van de Thermische Werktuigbouwkunde.

Ik ben betrokken bij het onderwijs van de opleiding Werktuigbouwkunde op het vakgebied van de Thermische Werktuigbouwkunde. Ik geef het vak Technische Thermodynamica 1 en 2 voor eerstejaars werktuigbouwkunde studenten. Dit vak is onderdeel van module 2, Energie en Materialen en module 3, Energie en Duurzaamheid. Tevens ben ik docent bij het project van deze modules, Analyse en Ontwerp van een innovatief Energie Systeem.
