Mijn onderzoek richt zich op hoe oppervlakken en interfaces kunnen worden ontworpen en geoptimaliseerd om sterkere, slimmere en duurzamere materialen en systemen te creëren.
Mijn werk omvat drie hoofdthema’s:
- Hechting en verlijming: het ontwikkelen van interface-engineering en lijmtechnologie voor betrouwbare hechting en verbindingen, waaronder metalen, composieten en coatings.
- Polymeertribologie: het onderzoeken van wrijving, slijtage, microplastische deeltjesvorming en krassen op polymeercoatings, en het ontwikkelen van oplossingen voor schonere en duurzamere systemen.
- Functionele oppervlakken: het ontwerpen van niet-klevende, stromingsweerstandsreducerende en corrosiebestendige oppervlakken, geïnspireerd door de natuur en geavanceerde productieprocessen.
