Mijn onderzoek richt zich op het begrijpen van de moleculaire mechanismes die ten grondslag liggen aan de vorming en het behoud van gezond gewrichtskraakbeen. Ik doe dit met een combinatie van technologieën, waaronder moleculaire celbiologie, biofysische microscopie en het gebruik van computermodellen. Door het in kaart brengen van de celcommunicatie / signaaltransductie verkrijgen we inzicht in de vorming van kraakbeen, het behoud en het verlies van kraakbeen in o.a. artrose.
