Philip Brey is hoogleraar filosofie en ethiek van technologie aan de afdeling Wijsbegeerte, Universiteit Twente. In zijn onderzoek onderzoekt hij sociale, politieke en ethische vraagstukken bij de ontwikkeling, het gebruik en de regulering van technologie. Zijn focus ligt op nieuwe en opkomende technologieën, met speciale aandacht voor kunstmatige intelligentie en digitale technologieën. Brey is voormalig president van de International Society for Ethics and Information Technology (INSEIT) en van de Society for Philosophy and Technology (SPT). Momenteel coördineert hij het 10-jarige onderzoeksprogramma Ethics of Socially Disruptive Technologies waaraan zeven universiteiten in Nederland zijn betrokken en ruim zestig onderzoekers deelnemen.
